Flights that meet specific conditions may operate without a Dutch route permit. The categories listed below outline the types of operations that fall outside the permit requirement and may therefore be carried out without prior approval from the Dutch authorities.

No route permit required

  • Private, business and commercial flights with a combination of an MTOW of less than 45 tons and a configuration of less than 20 passengers;
  • Positioning flights, ferry flights and delivery flights (a permit to fly may be required by- and can be obtained at the Civil Aviation Authority Netherlands);
  • Test flights (a permit to fly may be required and can be obtained at the Civil Aviation Authority Netherlands);
  • Maintenance flights (a permit to fly may be required and can be obtained at the Civil Aviation Authority Netherlands);
  • Overflights, on the condition that the aircraft and the operator meet all the requirements of ICAO and EASA and that the country of origin of the operator is registered in IASTA;
  • Fuel stops and technical stops, on the condition that the aircraft and the operator meet all the requirements of ICAO and EASA and that the country of origin of the operator is registered in IASTA;
  • Taxi flights;
